Veteran’s Advocacy Associates (VAA) helps elderly veterans “one at a time” to obtain the benefits they deserve for serving our country through the Veterans Affairs Aid and Attendance – Improved Pension Benefit Program. Richard Olson, the company’s founder, has been helping these veterans for years, receiving recognition from a local senator and congressional awards.
The importance of this project didn’t grab me until Richard shared how he got started and told me some examples of his past clients. Many of these people are in desperate need of supplemental income and don’t know that this money is even available. While many of their clients come by referrals from past clients, a large portion is referred by assisted living facilites so Richard decided they needed a more professional identity and consistent look.
A couple of concepts were explored but this one was decided upon for the image of respect and pride it portrayed. Being in a situation of need when you were once a proud soldier, or proud spouse of a soldier, can be embarrassing and we wanted the image of VAA to assure that they are respected.
Another fun aspect of the logo is we came up with about a dozen different flag silhouettes. This makes for flexible applications depending on the layout of the marketing piece.
